New Car Service in Garbutt

Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At Marks Mechanics in Garbutt, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At Marks Mechanics, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit Marks Mechanics for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.

Electric vehicles still need regular servicing—even without an engine oil change. Recently, the team at Marks Mechanics welcomed a Zeekr X into the workshop for its scheduled maintenance, carrying out a comprehensive inspection to ensure every important system continued operating safely and efficiently. Vehicle & Service This stylish Zeekr X electric SUV was booked into Marks Mechanics for its routine scheduled service. Like any modern vehicle, regular maintenance helps identify wear before it develops into larger or more expensive problems.

Although EVs have fewer moving drivetrain components than petrol or diesel vehicles, they still rely on sophisticated braking, steering, suspension and cooling systems, all of which require periodic inspection.

As shown in the workshop photo below, the Zeekr X arrived at our Garbutt workshop looking every bit as modern as the technology hidden beneath its sleek exterior.

For drivers around Townsville, regular servicing is especially worthwhile thanks to the region's warm climate, changing road conditions and everyday stop-start driving, all of which place ongoing demands on vehicle components. Comprehensive EV Inspection At Marks Mechanics, every scheduled EV service includes a thorough inspection tailored specifically to electric vehicles.

During this service our technicians completed: Brake system inspection Suspension inspection High-voltage system visual inspection Tyre condition and tread wear assessment Cooling system inspection Cabin air filter inspection Steering system inspection Lights, wipers and comprehensive safety inspection Each of these checks plays an important role in maintaining the vehicle's safety and reliability.

Although regenerative braking reduces brake wear, brake components can still develop corrosion or uneven wear if left unchecked. Likewise, tyres and suspension continue to experience the same loads as any other vehicle—and in some cases, EVs place even greater demands on tyres due to the additional weight of the battery pack.

The cooling system is another essential part of an electric vehicle, helping regulate battery and electrical component temperatures, particularly during North Queensland's warmer months.

One of the standout features of the Zeekr X is its advanced camera and driver assistance technology. As shown on the vehicle's large centre display, these systems provide an impressive 360-degree view to assist with parking and manoeuvring. During servicing, our technicians also inspect safety-related electronic systems as part of the overall vehicle health check. The Result Following its scheduled inspection, the Zeekr X was confirmed to be in good condition, with all key systems checked as part of its manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule.

Routine servicing helps keep electric vehicles operating safely and efficiently while allowing potential concerns to be identified early, before they become more costly or inconvenient.

Whether you drive an electric vehicle like this Zeekr X, a hybrid, petrol or diesel model, regular servicing remains one of the best ways to maximise reliability, safety and long-term performance.

As an independently owned Repco Authorised Service centre, Marks Mechanics combines local experience with ongoing technical training, quality parts and access to a nationwide warranty for eligible work. Our technicians have the equipment and expertise to service today's latest electric vehicles as confidently as traditional petrol and diesel models.

If you're looking for an experienced Garbutt mechanic for Zeekr X servicing, electric vehicle servicing or routine vehicle maintenance, speak with the friendly team at Marks Mechanics. Electric vehicles still need regular servicing—just a different kind of servicing. Routine inspections help protect your investment, maintain safety and ensure your EV continues performing exactly as its manufacturer intended.
